In publisher's embossed cloth with gilt vignette on the spine; a frontispiece and two additional inserted plates are accompanied by a number of in-text illustrations. Binding is quite fresh and attractive; weakness in the center of the textblock with a signature slightly proud; contemporary owner name in pencil on the front fee endpaper.
A charming copy of some of Andersen's tales including the title tale, The Fir Tree, The Snow-Queen, The Leap-Frog, The Elder-Bush, and the Bell. While there is no publication date, we have postulated 1864 based on the publisher's advertisements at the front and rear of the book.
