Broadside. 9.75" x 8." Single sheet with two hand-colored images: the top with the U. S. Capitol Building; the bottom with the "topographical Map of Virginia between Washington and Manassas Junction." Relief shown by hachures. Depths of the Potomac River shown by soundings. Verso is blank. Slight age toning including faint discoloration to the left edge; only minor wear to the edges. A very good copy.

Without date, but the date is derived from context and the description of the copy at the Library of Congress. The map shows Union and Confederate positions at "Battle of Bull Run, July 21st 1861." In right margin at the bottom: "Guide to Mount Vernon by the Road Maker" and in left margin: "New Road to Mt. Vernon in progress." Includes index of "U.S. encampments at Arlington Heights."
