Octavo. 48, 46, [2] pp. frontis. First edition. Both works bound in early 20th century half morocco with recent reback in muslin-backed Japanese paper with leather title label; wrappers bound in. Light foxing throughout and very occasional soiling, but remarkably nice copies in a handsome binding with relatively minor shelfwear. Richmond binder's ticket of S. B. Adkins & Co. on the front pastedown.

Uncommon pamphlets recounting the details of the collapse of the ceiling of Capitol building in Richmond, killing dozens and injuring about 200 more people. An tragedy precipitated by an overcrowded courthouse resulting from heated disputes over leadership in Reconstruction era Virginia. This pamphlet bound with a history written nearly 50 years after the fact and with a much clearer vision of the event.
