Philadelphia: Printed by B. Graves for W. Duane, 1805. Disbound. Good binding. Item #8944

Octavo. 96 pp. Second edition. Removed from binding, untrimmed and partially unopened. First and last pages are soiled with some minor loss to the lower and inner margin of the title page, not touching text; deckled of many leaves soiled, else a reasonably nice copy of what the author describes as intended "to expose to full view the prodigious evil of our jurisprudence, to shew the absurdity of common law, and to suggest a competent remedy for that evil by a reform" p. iv. Higgins wishes to eliminate or seriously reduce the roles of judges and lawyers in jury trials. This work gets variously attributed to the publisher William Duane and William Sampson. Shaw & Shoemaker site conclusive evidence placing authorship with Higgins. Shaw & Shoemaker 9307; Sabin 75294.
