Printed here is Madison's letter and laws imposing taxes on the lands of non-residents, including "An act levying a territorial tax on land"; "An act to regulate county levies"; "An act supplementary to an act entitled 'An act laying a territorial tax on land,' and providing for a territorial tax for the year 1801"; and also "A law supplemental to a law to regulate county levies, adopted from the Pennsylvania code, and published at St. Vicennes the 19th January, 1801, by William Henry Harrison, governor, William Clarke, Henry Vanderburg, and John Griffin, judges in and over said territory."
