Annapolis, MD: Elihu S. Riley, 1920. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Item #7518
Octavo. 203 pp., frontis. First edition. In publisher's cloth. Binding is a trifle soiled and the spine a bit darkened; the book presents fairly well despite this; previous owner bookplate and name on the endpaper; a small closed tear to the top of the front free endpaper has an early tape repair to the verso; offsetting to the front free endpaper; contents are otherwise clean. An interesting collection of material on Jackson, some of which, according to the author in the preface, has "never seen the light of print. [These anecdotes and incidents] were gathered by the author from the lips of men who belonged to the invincible band of that immortal Corps that he in life commanded--the Stonewall Brigade" (p. 5). Perhaps an overwrought preface, but still, an uncommon book. Haynes 15717.
