THE TRAGEDY OF THE CRATER
Boston: Christopher Publishing House, 1938. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Item #7515
12mo. 110 pp., frontis. First edition. Signed and inscribed by Pleasants. In publisher's cloth, lacking the dust jacket. A relatively nice copy with a couple of small spots on the front board and mildly bumped bottom edge on the back board; textblock has a very slight forward lean; contents clean but for the faintly visible erasure of a previous owners name. This copy with a warm inscription by Pleasants on the recto of the frontispiece: "With kindest personal regards, and hope that this offering from her 'damyank' friend will meet with toleration form those who suffered much." Nevins describes this as, "Written by the cousin of the 48th Pennsylvania's commander; based on the Colonel's notes and letters. . . ." CWB I, 147.
