As issued, 18 cards (16 of which have photographic reproductions) in lidded-metal box and suede matte board floor that have been laser engraved. A very nice copy, some cards showing only trivial edge-rubbing. A very fresh set.

Bateman writes in the introduction, "At nearly the same time that photography was invented, Spiritualism was being born." 16 Cabinet card sized facsimile depictions of spectral devices are present as well as a signed and numbered title card, and an information card describing this genre of the history of photography. A striking group of photographs perfectly suited to the enthusiast or casually-curious when it comes to Spiritualism, photography, and the ghosts in general.
