Octavo. 17, [3] pp. First edition, thus; reprinted from the Alumni Bulletin of the University of Virginia. Signed and inscribed by McCabe. As issued, stapled into printed wrappers. Covers are a bit soiled and edgeworn; soft vertical fold through the entire pamphlet; faint staining from possible moisture exposure to the rear wrapper with some very light rippling to the middle of the last couple of leaves. Thompson is perhaps most known for his editorship of the Southern Literary Messenger. This copy with remarkable presentation inscription by McCabe to to Eppa Hunton, Jr, Hunton Jr. was the son of Confederate General and U.S. Senator, Eppa Hunton. He was also a founding partner of Richmond law firm, Hunton & Williams (now, Hunton Andrews & Kurth). A very nice association of a fairly uncommon address. Haynes 11682.
