[Philadelphia, 1864]: 1864. Original Wrappers. Fair binding. Item #6452

Octavo. 4 pp. Removed from volume, retaining the original wrappers with title on the front cover. Wrappers are separated at the spine and detached; chipping to the extremities of the front wrapper; loss to the bottom corner of the rear wrapper.

A letter from General H. M. Naglee to W[illiam] D. Kelley, dated September 27, 1864, condemning disclosure of the treatment of McClellan by Stanton and Lincoln. A second letter (A Second Chapter from the Secret. . . .) was subsequently published and it appears both letters were collected and perhaps reissued together in 1864 as campaign material for General McClellan's 1864 bid for the White House. All editions of this letter are uncommon in the trade and scarcely more than a dozen institutional holdings of this edition according to OCLC. Sabin 51720.
