The Cold Spring Creamery was to be a joint-stock company with initial capital of $1800 with 72 shares costing $25 each. The creamery would "collect from its patrons, the cream made by them, to a Creamery or Factory provided for that purpose, the manufacture of said cream into butter, or otherwise disposing of the same, as may appear to the best advantage or profit of the same patrons" (p. [1]). While this pamphlet does not identify the location, it is likely that these are the by-laws for the Cold Spring Creamery Company in Foster, RI. Described by a National Register of Historic Places Registration Form for the Moosup Valley Historic District, "it was a short-lived community effort, spurred by local residents Clarke H. Johnson and Curtis H. Foster. The Creamery failed in 1900 in the face of strong competition from New York and Vermont farmers." Scarce with no apparent institutional holdings according to OCLC.
