[Minature. William Pickering, Diamond Classics] M. T. CICERONIS LIBRI, DE OFFICIIS, DE SENECTUTE ET DE AMICITIA
Londini [London]: Gulielmus [William] Pickering, 1821. Hard Cover. Very Good+ binding. Item #6369
9.4 cm x 5.5 cm. [4], 155, [1] pp., frontis, engraved title. Diamond Classics edition. In publisher's brick-colored cloth with printed paper title labels on the spine; textblock is partially unopened. A very nice copy with frontispiece engraving of Cicero by R. Graves opposite an engraved title page. Only very light shelfwear to the binding; a solid copy, clean; bears the modern book label of American collector Albert A. Howard on the back pastedown.
A wonderful example of a miniature book at its very best, with all the proportions one would find in traditionally sized books and all the quality in printing and design that one would expect from Pickering. This is a beautiful, well preserved copy. Contrary to Keynes the label bears a 5s price rather than the 6s Keynes calls for. Text in Latin. Keynes p. 58; Welsh 1897.
