Octavo. 85, [3] pp. First edition. Originally issued in wrappers, this copy in 20th century binding, backed in morocco with corners and marbled paper over boards; leather title label on the front board--original wrappers are bound in. Binding is lightly rubbed; contents are generally foxed and a bit of spotty discoloration to wrappers; rear wrapper is chipped at the top corner; all in all a nice copy of an uncommon collection.

In addition to Cushing's address, this volume includes John Stuart's "Memoirs of Indian Wars, and Other Occurrences" and "Record of Grace Sherwood's Trial for Witchcraft, in 1705, in Princess Anne County, Virginia." Regarding the former, Field notes, "This is the only form in which Col. John Stuart's narrative of the Battle of Point Pleasant ever appeared in print" Field 1609. Swem 6017; Sabin 100556.
