Paris: Baudry's European Library, 1846. Original Wrappers. Very Good binding. Item #6148
Octavo. , 336 pp. Reprint. As issued, in plain wrappers with printed paper spine label and glassine jacket. A remarkably nice copy in publisher's wrappers, scarce thus. Some wear to the paper and a bit of chipping to the glassine; the label is a trifle silverfished; covers are a trifle soiled and the front wrapper is just starting to separate at the top of the front joint; contents clean and binding solid. A remarkably fresh copy containing some of Irving's most beloved stories, including "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip Van Winkle." This is a mid-19th century reprint of the Baudry's edition originally printed in 1823 (BAL 10236) in two volumes. Here complete in one. While several of the Baudry editions are identified by Blanck in the Bibliography of American Literature this printing is not cited.
