JOURNAL OF THE CONVENTION OF VIRGINIA; Held in the City of Richmond on the First Monday in June, in the Year of our Lord One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eighty-Eight [1788]

Richmond: Thomas W. White, 1827. Quarter Leather. Good binding. Item #6104

Small quarto. 39 pp. Early reprint after the original 1788 edition. Contemporary binding, backed in tan sheep with corners and marble paper over boards. Leather at the front joint is separating, but the board is holding well; spine somewhat worn; contents are clean and the slim textblock is sold. In addition to the list of delegates and daily proceedings, this journal contains the discussion, votes, and printed Constitution as ratified in 1788. According to Swem (no. 7586), 200 copies of the journal was printed by Augustine Davis at the close of the convention in 1788. That edition is extremely rare. Even this 1827 edition is fairly uncommon in the trade. Sabin 100030; Swem 7587.
