12mo. 83, [1 (index)]; 49 [1 (contents)] pp., plates, map. Stitched into printed wrappers. Four engraved plates including the frontispiece and a hand-colored tri-fold map of Sussex. Stitching is loose; covers are somewhat worn; the top third of the fore-edge of the first half a dozen leaves show predation to the margin, only; likewise the fore-edge margin of the folding map is nibbled; rear wrapper has been discreetly and professionally reattached. A remarkably uncommon mid-19th century guide book condition it was frequently issued for more than a decade.
