Octavo. 39, [1 (blank)] pp. First edition. As issued, stapled into stiff wrappers with printed dust jacket. Light soiling, but all in all a solid copy of this author's first published work. Additionally, there are photocopies of typescripts, some signed by Upton at the bottom corner. The poems include work that would be published in her second collection, Invention of Kindness. Of note, all of the typescripts I've been able to compare differ from the published text, two of them significantly with additional stanzas. An uncommon group of poetry from a noted poet, novelist, and literary critic whose awards include The Writer/Emily Dickenson Award, Pushcart Prize, National Book Series Award.
