POEMS FROM THE NOVEL

(Tannerville, NY): printed by Leonard Seaston at the Tideline Press, 1976. Hard Cover. Near Fine binding. Item #5817

Quarto. [64] pp. Limited edition, number 8 of 75 copies, signed by Crane on the colophon. As issued, in quarter cream paper with gray paper over boards; the body of the text is printed on the recto of each page with a deep imprint; the title page is illustrated with a tinted mountainscape through a window pane. A special bifolium is laid in with the same mountainscape printed in blind, deep relief on the first leaf where it is signed by Seastone and Crane and with an additional prose poem by Crane dated September 1976 on the recto of the second leaf. A very nice copy of this month-long collection of gritty and sensual prose poems that revolve around "trying to put a novel together, looking for effects that amaze and the ephemeral that is slow coming" (from 'one april'). A beautifully printed book.
