Octavo. viii, 477 pp. Second edition. Untrimmed, in publisher's paper over boards with printed paper title label on the spine. A pretty rough binding with boards detached but held in place by early tape to the exterior of the binding as well as some tape hinges to a few preliminary pages; the title label is only present as a fragment and much of the spine is perished; binding is soiled and stained; contents are variously foxed with early dampstaining to the last hundred or so pages; occasional marginal bracketing by a previous owner; a serviceable copy of this, the second edition of what was originally issued in three volumes in a 1788-89.
