Octavo. 52 pp. Second Edition, inscribed with the author's compliments at the top of the title page. Bound in contemporary red calf with corners and marbled paper over boards. Binding is abraded, but remains solid and attractive in its way. A warm letter (3 pages of a bifolium) dated November 1875 from Barlow to a Doctor Litchfield of Surrey is tipped in. Barlow was a Dante scholar and there is more than passing mention of Dante in the letter. A unique item.
