Binding is quite nice with only minor shelf rubbing; a solid copy; internally, lacking the front free endpaper; early penciled owner name of "W. Pool" on the front pastedown; small early ink note on the title page and on page with early ink marginalia, otherwise clean but for light to occasionally moderate foxing; the rear blanks have an 1822 Massachusetts Act clipped and pasted down.

Contents include: Militia laws; a discussion of the Constitutional power of the commanders in chief of the militia of the several states, to determine whether the exigencies exist, which require them to place the militia in the service of the United States; reports of cases decided by the Supreme Judicial Court upon the militia laws; case decided in the Supreme Court of New-York; case decided in the Supreme Court of the United States; as well as a variety of indexes.
