All 30 plates and both color frontispieces are present. Early leaves with some trivial wear to the margins including an early mend to a small closed tear to the fore-edge of the title page of Volume I as well as the bottom margin of the first several leaves of Volume II; a few dog-eared corners; extremely limited pencil bracketing and underlining; two folding charts have been attached a little awkwardly during the binding. Ink number at the top of the title page of Volume II has been marked through in pencil, rubber stamped number on the last page of Volume I; penciled numbers on the copyright page.
While this is not a perfect copy of this book, it is fairly nice and extremely presentable in this binding. Remarkably rare in commerce. A monumental work profusely illustrated throughout with photographs, drawings, plates, graphs, etc. This copy from the library of American paleontologist Craig C. Black with his debossed stamp on both title pages.
