Corks and Curls [Number 4]

New York: Published by the Fraternities of UVA | printed by The Republic Press, [1891]. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Item #10476

Octavo. 128, [2], ix, [1] pp., frontis, plates, illus. First edition. As issued, in cloth backed boards with title stamped in red on the front cover. Covers are a trifled foxed and soiled; only light edgewear; generally a pleasing of an early and rare annual from the University of Virginia; one leaf with a small closed tear to the margin; but for the contemporary owner name of Charles Trotter Lassiter on the front free endpaper and some occasional foxing, the contents are clean.

An early edition of the UVA annual. Content relates to the academic, fraternal, and extracurricular clubs and departments. Illustrations throughout. Interesting previous owner name: Lassiter graduated from the University of Virginia law school and eventually served in the Virginia House of Delegates and as a state Senator. Early volumes of Corks and Curls are quite uncommon in commerce.
