Octavo. [8 (ads)], 220, 63 (ads) pp, frontis, maps, plates, illus. Fifth edition. In publisher's decorative cloth. Binding a trifle worn including a closed tear to the cloth at the joint, this area is tender but remains stable despite the loose hinges; some front matter, including title page and frontispiece, folding chart, and preliminary advertisements are detached but present; 33 double page maps with mounted photographs of sites along the route. These leaves are rippled from the mounting adhesive. Additionally, there are three single page plates with mounted photographs, similarly rippled. Inserted between the last page and terminal advertisements is a small 4-page prospectus for a work by Taunt in preparation: Old Father Thames.

There is no date of publication, but we have followed OCLC which records a copy with manuscript note of publication. There are mentions of changes of course as late as 1886, supporting the speculation presented by the copy recorded in OCLC. A wonderful work with approximately 100 small thumbnail photographs.
