Octavo. 18 pp. First edition. Removed from binding. Light age toning; faint tideline to the bottom half of the outer edges of the leaves; previous owner name of H. D. Gilpin and inked "28" in his hand at the top of the first page. Gilpin served as the U. S. Attorney General under Van Buren and argued for the government in the Amistad case in front of the Supreme Court.
This report consists mainly of a document dated "Philadelphia, Feb. 21, 1831," promoting the importance of American iron manufacture and the tariffs protecting domestic manufacturers; as well as pages of signed certificates by various trades attesting to the superiority of American iron in nearly every way in which iron is employed. This memorial to dispute John Sarchet's memorial which was printed by the United States Senate in the first session to promote the removal of imported iron duties.
